How do I choose a card for grading ?

To make sure you make the right decision when choosing a card for grading, here's what you need to know!

Here are the main criteria:

Value: Determine the value of your ungraded card. Then check the grade you want by calculating the grading fee.

This way, during the evaluation, our inspection team will help you find out if this margin is reachable.

Please note that this evaluation cannot be taken as an official grade; it remains a summary evaluation of your card condition.

Here are the 4 inspection criteria:

Edges : (Check that there are no missing colors or notches on the edges of your card)

Corners: (Check all 4 corners for major material defects)

Centering: (Look at the 4 front and back borders if they have +- the same percentage, e.g.: the right border is thinner than the left).

Surface : (front and back): check that there are no pencil marks, indentations or print lines on the surface, creases or other marks.

The next step is to have everything checked by our inspection team before sending your card.

Is it possible to encapsulate a card without a note ?

Yes!

You can request simple authentication with your card description.

Can I send you a card already graded by another company ?

Absolutely!

There are a few options available to you:

1- Remove the card from its encapsulation and submit it to the new grading company selected.

2- Crossover service: The graded card will be sent as is, but with a minimum grade.

Ex: You want to send a card graded 9.5 and request a minimum grade of 10. The advantage of this service is that if the minimum grade requested for your card is not reached, your card will be returned to you in its original encapsulation.

This way, you don't take the risk of your original encapsulation coming back with a lower grade than the one you requested.

Please note that service charges remain applicable even if the change has not been made, and surcharges may apply depending on the value of your card in the event that the requested rating is given.

Can I send photos of the card to get an opinion on its condition ?

Unfortunately, it's impossible for us to perform a proper inspection with a simple picture, as many anomalies appear from certain viewing angles, and these photos are often not of optimal quality for a proper inspection.

Our inspection service is the best way to evaluate the condition of your cards.

It should be noted, however, that this inspection remains a summary evaluation and in no way guarantees a predetermined grade.

Is it possible to contest a CYG evaluation?

No!
It is possible to dispute card identification information. For example:

The year of production, the name assigned to the card, the card series, etc.

Please note, however, that we will base ourselves on the information you provide in your quote request. We will still carry out research to ensure that the details you provide are correct.

When it comes to evaluating your cards, our inspection criteria are as rigorous as possible, and our certifiers have all undergone comprehensive training on each of our inspection criteria to ensure that all our inspections comply with our inspection charter.

This is why we are not in a position to receive protests, as everything has been done to ensure transparency and rigor unrivalled in the industry.

What is the CYG service guarantee?

CYG guarantees a rigorous service, an inspection that lives up to your expectations, and the team uses high-quality microscopes to provide the most accurate pre-assessment. As a result, fewer errors are possible.

As for shipments to the companies selected on your quotation, there is no possible guarantee on shipment. Shipments to grading companies are not insurable, since we'll need an invoice for each card. So there isn't one invoice per card, but per batch.

It's impossible to insure a shipment with multiple products in a single box. But for the return, the parcel is insured by the grading company (PSA/Beckett) according to the value declared at the outset.

How much the PSA services cost?

Cards that exceed the value of the service chosen are at risk of overcharging, as PSA will adjust this overcharge to the value of the card according to the service that should have been chosen.

This adjustment is only related to the value of the card, which is why it's important to choose the right service for your card.

Here's an example to help you decide which service to choose:

PSA offers several types of service:

Here are a few examples of the services we offer:

  • Bulk service is the least expensive, with a processing time of about 4.5 months for a value of US$500 or less.
  • The more expensive regular service has a processing time of 30 working days for cards worth US$1500 or less.

So: a card worth US$1,000 sent by Bulk

Here's the link to the services offered by PSA
